Most of the books I started learning philosophy from, and some of the critical literature I read at an early age was so heavy on the footnotes that it made me very fond of them.
I don’t know what some people are doing in literary criticism where they just add numbers and then you have to read the notes section at the end of the chapter. I don’t have that kind of memory.
