This is the tomb after the Cathedral of the Forsaken; the Three Fingers are way below.
You can skip to the bottom by using a critical attack on one of the mournful nomads, who play string instruments. Stance break them with, for example, a small shield, walk in front of them near the edge, and then crit them with your empty hand. During your critical attacks, you are entirely immune to damage, even fall damage. Also, the fall looks pretty cool; you just have to sacrifice one of the last survivors of the nomads at the site of their genocide…
Is this really ds3? Seems like er.
You’re right. This person is hellbent on selling their soul to the three fingers and plunging the world into chaos.
Maybe they just want a big shield?
They may just be grabbing the fingerprint shield.
Some of the best music in the game tho
Man, I put ER at first because of the environment, but then I edited it because I thought the character model looked like ds3 and that maybe this was that area in the hub.
Ugh, changing it back.
It is. Nastiest bit of platforming I have ever experienced
Have you played ds1?
Yeah I don’t really remember any platforming tho
The Great Hollow and Blighttown had a fair bit
I thought the same
Having jank ass platforming is kinda required for any true souls like these days. If you don’t have the terrible unnecessary platforming, what are you even doing?
My favorite is DS3, where you can just feel Miyazaki laughing as you figure out the jump button is pushing in the left stick. And it only works when running and even then it only works sometimes. Truly an inspired move by Miyazaki-san.
Elden Ring is a good second tho, because there is so much more of it. I especially like how you can perform the same action 5 times and get wildly different jump distances each time. And don’t forget the dozen or so places where they mark the place to jump with a corpse or some kind of detail on a beam. Only for them to place the indicator in completely the wrong place a few jumps later, love it!
Madness Ahead
When you ask Miyazaki to remove a poison swamp, he keeps it and adds a platforming section.
ER2 gonna have a poison platforming section
They’ll bring back the blight town toxic blowdart guys pelting you while you try to descend some rickety scaffolding.
Lake of Rot but with sections with DS1/2 style submerged, barely visible cliffs.
Shrine of Amana but the water inflicts super poison.
Guys I know that souls fans are a bunch of masochists but please stop giving ideas to Miyazaki
Instead of super poison, it inflicts frenzy, objectively the most annoying status they’ve ever done. Complete with buildup for a few more seconds after you’re no longer being exposed, and an expensive/rare cure item that you’re not sure if you need use to keep the status from proccing.
If we doing this, the frenzy status also make you lose control of your character/scramble your inputs so you can fall to the barely visible abyss of Shrine of Amana more easily.
