Even slightly older styles like Liquipedia and Wikidot have far superior interfaces to fandom wikis. Every year they seem to get slower and more bloated with additional popups. Like wth is the purpose of the “Are you a kid?” question.
As a child, I lied about my age to get past “we can’t show you this/you can’t make an account” restrictions.
As an adult, I find myself clicking “I’m a kid” on fandom.com because it probably means they won’t hit me with as many trackers or ads, something something I forget COPPA. (Yes, I know I should probably get some kind of script-blocking thing instead.)

If it’s asking whether you’re a kid, it’s probably to comply with some “think of the children” law.
