I was making maki rolls for my family and I won’t lie, a hot dog made it onto a roll. We did cut it up into strips, and cut a pickle spear for it and served it with spicy mayo. Was not bad at all, but I accept I might be a food criminal
With minimalist food like sushi, which basically lives off just a handful of high quality ingredients working together extremely well, even a tiny mistake like the wrong condiment can make or break the dish.
Spicy mayo sounds like an interesting play here. That (and the pickle spear) might already be enough to turn it around.
