20 years without a trial is the larger scandal here

the military trial against Mohammed and his alleged co-conspirators was delayed for years as the US tried to determine how to handle the issue of torture used against Mohammed and others at secret CIA prisons in the 2000s. The issue posed a legal problem for prosecutors about whether evidence obtained through torture was admissible in court. Cnn

So… The plea deal was they wouldn’t kill the people they tortured and exchange they skip the inconvenient trial where their torture gets argued in court.

What’s the plan now? Just keep them in Guantanamo until they die of old age without a trial?

Most likely. It’s a stain that it’s went on this long. Early on I get the logic for keeping them at gitmo and delaying the trials. I don’t have an issue with that.

My issue is it’s now twenty years later and four president later, and it still hasn’t been solved. I am not ok with that.
