in the french town of Eu
Wow, they were really ahead of their time.
Petition to move the EU institutions there?
The tragic part is that the EU is called the “UE” in French…
Luckily French isn’t a real language.
I know, I know, I had french classes as well. (Still seeing my therapist because of that :P)
But I still found it funny :)
Props to whoever made that bottle and stopper. That note is in fantastic condition.
It probably helps, that the bottle was in salt in a clay pot in the ground and not in the ocean.
It would seem that archeologists know how to preserve things.
Every time I read news of people finding old messages in bottles I find it fascinating.
But then at the same time I wonder how many people it prompts to dump their own bottles into the sea (i.e. littering) anytime one of these headlines blow up
E: sorry I’m apprehensive about dumping plastic in our oceans. Damn. Didn’t realise this was a pro-pollution community…
Glasbottles are fine and just fancy rocks.
Well yeah, I’d hope the people who do this use glass bottles, but let’s be real, they’ll use whatever easily-sealable bottle is most convenient. So plastic bottles.
but if i write my message on plastic it’ll last forever
the plastic will last “forever” but your message will quickly crumble away like
dustplastic in the wind
I’ll send an S.O.S to the world
