I think Donald Trump is a Kremlin ass rimming cunt. But I also think Europe isn’t doing nearly enough to fund and arm the fight right on their doorstep. I think Europe is holding back. I don’t think Europe will curtail their 5 week paid holidays, to portion GDP and pony up for more arms for Ukraine? I think Europe will bitch and complain, and fold, just like it always does. Then blame the US when Putin marches into Kyiv. I mean, Biden would have emptied the bank for Ukraine, but for some reason all the security forces in the entirety of Europe couldn’t find a way to expose Trump in the last 4 years he was teetering fending off as many criminal lawsuits as could be thrown at him domestically. Trump isn’t going to keep arming Ukraine, Trump is a fascist who respects only fascists. Time for Europe to handle Europe shit. I don’t think they can, I don’t think they will.

Almost the entire concept of The West is built upon concessions of Europe to the US in lieu of a guarantee against Russia.

Reneging on that will, and has already started to, isolate the US and leave it a lot more vulnerable to Chinese, BRICS, Russian, and other influence, not the least economically.

Europe has send twice as much aid to Ukraine as the US. There has also been a pretty large built up of military capacity in the EU, allowing enough weapons to flow to Ukraine for the coming years. The only thing Europeans need to do to stop Putin from marching into Kyiv is to keep sending aid.

If only there was a way to get some actual facts, a quick calculation puts European direct bilateral contributions at about 150% of US.

I don’t know if you’re new to politics, but it is fairly common for politicians to present an opinion to spur certain action, such as giving more aid. It’s what’s needed to stop Russia, and stopping now won’t be enough.

Also, rearming, sending volunteers, adjusting to NATO, and increasing cooperation is also doing a lot to both ensure a future, and alleviate much of the worry for rebuilding.

Counterpoint: the US made bank being the enforcer of the rules based order. But being the most wealthy country in the world is apparently not enough. And to be direct, the US was the one rattling russia’s cage the past 30 years… and now it all escalated you cannot just nope out without consequences.

And in regards to money spent… the us sends weapons… meaning all the money stays in country, adding to the Pentagon budget for new kit. The EU mostly keeps Ukraine afloat financially… so they can pay their soldiers etc…

alternative counterpoint : russia has always been the agressor, europe had since the last time they folded to the reich (and needed to be rescued) to deal with the russian threat, and they decided free health care (which is great) and 5 week vacations per anum (which is also pretty fucking nifty) with big brother america looking out for them, they would make fun of all the things americans don’t have, while agreeing to generously donate 1% of their GDP to their own defense. I don’t think Europe is really sold on Ukraine being one of them, I mean they’d like access to it’s resources particularly it’s grain, but when push comes to shove, and it has, Europe will wee wee wee all the way home now that the US can’t be counted on to foot the bill. Hoping Putin stops at Ukraine’s borders. Well, here’s to hopin.

All that freedom dividend was spent on a lot of US goods… your economy outpaced everyone due to being the country with the industrial capacity to sell.

And the US military is your social security for minorities and economically depressed… all the way up to the MIC.

The US profited most of the whole situation and now you are here to claim you where actually the victim?

Feels more like a shill trying to sow division. How’s the price of butter doing?
