The Carnivore Diet is one of the most controversial health trends. Is it a legitimate path to better health, or a dangerous fad diet? In this video, we unpack common Carnivore and Meat Myths. We approach questions with nuance, rather than dogma. Together we will unveil basic truths about the state of scientific evidence, fiber, vitamin C, athletic performance, disordered eating and more. This video will be eye-opening, “provocatively reasonable,” and valuable irrespective of your chosen diet. Let’s stop “beefing with beef” just for the sake of it, and think with our brains, rather than our guts.

Myth 1: “There Isn’t Any Evidence Supporting a Carnivore Diet.”

It’s true that randomized controlled trials on a carnivore diet have not been conducted. These will likely need to be completed before conventional medicine can recommend a carnivore diet as a metabolic health intervention for specific disorders, like autoimmune and inflammatory conditions. All this is to say, the research is in an early stage because the carnivore diet “movement” (yes, I’ll call it that) is relatively young.

But that does not detract from the fact that thousands of people are having positive results with a carnivore diet for a broad range of disorders. These are real people with real stories of suffering and recovery. The next step will be to leverage these powerful stories and early data to inspire and fund randomized controlled trials on a carnivore diet.

I think things like the lean mass hyper responder cholesterol study is an excellent prelude to RCTs

It should demonstrate that zero carb is safe from a cardiovascular perspective

The only other ethical blocker for assigning people onto carnivore for an RCT seems to be the FFQ epidemiology research that claims to link meat to cancer

I don’t think there is any current ethnical limit on doing low carb / carnivore RCTs, it’s a question of who would fund it. There is no medication to sell, so pharmacological backing is out.

The excuse is only used by the groups pushing pbfs for various reasons, on why they only compare against a western diet. When the goal is pushing an agenda, and not actual science, then you only want to compare against things that make you look good.

I think it’s fine too, but too many ethical judges in experiments believe the lipid hypothesis
