Drives my wife crazy, but she did the same thing to me when we first started talking on the online dating site.
She’d forget to respond and I’d say, "I’ll send one more message, and if she doesn’t respond I’ll move on. Luckily I did that time, and the 4 other times she accidentally ghosted me.
I think about your text randomly once a week for the rest of eternity. Each time I go, “Nah, at this point it would be weird to follow up.”
Easiest solution: just reply
OK /Dad
to everything regardless of whether you read it or not

I feel “👁️👄👁️” - meaning one’s seen the message would be more appropriate.
