I’d say that it’s somewhat relentlessness of practice ( not identical to “consistency”, as erratic still produces results, just not as much as consistent, but it is keeping picking-up the practice again that counts most, in the long-term, if you see … the long-term average has to be positive, see? : )

So, make some practice for yourself, whether daily or weekly, not longer than 1/2-moon intervals is best, moon-ly is 2nd-best, & make it consistent that you breathe-out the damage, the harm ( see Taisha Abelar’s “Sweeping Breath” practice for a more-advanced version of this ), & you breathe-in pure clean sunshine, or LivingSpirit, or whatever it is you find makes your Soul whole, see?

One has to let-go, in order to fill-up with new meanings, right? ( that old Zen story about some Westerner going to the Zen-master, to ask lots of questions, the Zen-master poured tea for the guy, & just kept pouring, with the cup overflowing, & finally the guest burst-out “it’s full! it can’t hold any more!” … to which the Zen-master replied “as your mind is: you have to empty it out, to pour new stuff in”, or something like that )

Another thing which helps me is that now, finally, I’m understanding that one has to differentiate between the-personality/the-person on the 1 hand, vs the Continuum/Soul on the other hand, & one can have unconditional-love for the Continuum/Soul, which did induce lessons/realizations, without being entangled-up with the personality/person, just letting them go, & opposing them, if required ( all the evil-pushers in our world, e.g. )

Here’s another item, which took me decades to learn: ritual is required for unconscious mind to work-through its meaning.

A true master-of-inner-yoga doesn’t bother with ritual, it’s completely unnecessary.

However, someone whose mind is mostly-unconscious ( because life hasn’t yet grinded them through 0.6 or more of a century of “education” … I think 2-Saturn-orbits really is the basic-threshold for maturity, now … ), then ritual can be a means for getting one’s unconscious-mind to be engaging that kind of function, see?

So, e.g. “baptism” is just a ritual that is enacting a symbol-representation of what Souls do, when they immerse themselves in OceanOfAllPhenomena/Universes…

Souls do it, climbing “down Jacob’s Ladder”, until they experience their fundamental Soul-ignorance, then when they get fed-up with that condition’s result, they begin climbing “up Jacob’s Ladder”, until they “return home”, to their Origin, see?

The Christian “Prodigal Son” parable is also about Souls, just centering on an individual one, which climbs down “Jacob’s Ladder” & then later, when it turns from “the kingdom without” to “the kingdom within”, climbing up it, into inner-realization…

it’s all just symbol-representations, metaphors, & once the key is understood, you find that many of them are actually just different cultural-appearances on top of the same root-meaning…

Find the root-meaning you need your unconscious-mind doing, & make a ritual for getting it to engage that meaning, is the point of this bit…

You may find the books of Gottman, on relationships, to be useful in improving your life-process’s quality … you may find the 5 culture-levels identified in “Tribal Leadership”, by researchers Logan, King, & Fischer-Wright to get your life up a notch in both spirit & quality, & you may find the book “Immunity to Change”, on our unconscious-mind’s fighting-off of growing-up, a dysfunction-protection mechanism, & how to convince it to allow the growing-up to happen … by researchers Kegan & Lahey to give your life leverage…

Each of these I’d require all high-school students to at-least encounter, so as to give their lives better leverage for their own, autonomous, evolution, you know?

IF one sees a graph of crimes committed,

say one depicts numbers-of-crimes as the Y-axis, & severity-of-crimes as the X-axis,

THEN one’s going to see that the most crimes are minor, right?

there’s going to be a powerlaw ruling the relationship between numbers-of-crimes & severity-of-crime: the greater the severity, the fewer-instances of it…

Now … mix-in the problem that living-wage isn’t a legal-right in any jurisdiction in North America…

AND mix-in the problem that white-collar-crime isn’t prosecuted the way that blue-collar-crime is ( theft which causes the disemployment of multiple people will not likely result in prison-time, but multiple retail-thefts will be more likely to do so )

What the economic-system itself becomes, then, is a “conveyer belt producing criminals”, in some sense…

& the single greatest indicator of whether a person’s going to be charged with crime is whether they’ve already been charged with a crime…

Remember the now-discontinued “scared straight” program, or whatever it was called?

Apparently it backfired: when you aquaint youth with jail, you normalize it, so you’ve moved the frame-of-reference, & now criminality is much more normal than it had-been, in their minds, so … they’re more likely to be going 'round criminaling on ye, see?

I think that the real tough-cases are the ones you’re seeing, the ones who don’t rehabilitate, & the actual most-cases isn’t them.

( I also wish there was some systematic get-lives-out-from-criminality’s-churn mechanism like “Doing Time Doing Vipassana” the documentary showed really works, for some people )

Bright lines, & hard walls.

Sometimes hard/actual consequences are the ONLY correction which produces any result.

Female-cultures tend to assume that social-pressure’s entirely-sufficient ( Scandinavian cultures are this ).

There’s a Scandinavian country where a serial-murderer keeps being let out, because he keeps saying he won’t do it again, so the authorities let him out, & he murders yet-another innocent life…

I’d force those damn incompetent authorities to be the lives that serial-murderer got to take-out next: teach them some ACCOUNTABILITY, & their future-incarnations would have respect for actuality, one hopes…

They are accessories to that murderer’s murders, & they themselves just get off without any accountability??

We have to have a system which can identify where the system is most failing, & correct that.

It’s supposed to be when this person is no-longer a threat for this category of problem, then they are rehabilitated/corrected, & can return into the community.

That is event-driven, not calendar-driven.

Nothing in our current method works that way.

It requires that we be able to test, objectively, the current-unconscious-mind of the people in “corrections”.

Brain-imaging, polygraph by true professionals, whatever works.

It’s a totally-different sentencing-paradigm, though.

It’d have to also apply to witnesses, though, including official-witnesses, like police, for it to be trustworthy…

( there is a book on journalism which identifies that in a death-sentence case, the police had the confession of the actual-killer, but ignored it, as they wanted this other guy getting executed, so they got this other guy on death-row…

That isn’t police-services officers, that is officers who are enforcing evil.

A class of journalism-students got that particular wrong-conviction fixed.

I’d say that the problems in the system are sooo all-pervading, that the entire system needs reform, not just any single-aspect of it…

Bias in sentencing? ( seriously, some guy murders & dismembers an Indigenous woman, so he gets 60 DAYS for it, out west? )

Replace judges with some impersonal decision-tree for sentencing, with some kind of metamoderating equivalent for ongoing recalibration…

How make certain that the more-violent-offenders get kept segregated until something changes in their unconscious-mind, if it can?

that requires a systematic triage judging of ALL cases, & prioritizing of the more-violent-offenders.

How about the whole thing where jail ( less-than-2y ttbomk ) & prison ( 2y+ ttbomk ) are NOT manufacturing high-criminality inmates?

That requires a complete paradigm change, as the entire “corrections” system ( with the falsifying-quotes on it ) is oriented to manufacturing inmates, which then helps justifying more enforcement, in the future, through their manufactured/amplified criminality.

( read Logan, King, & Fischer-Wright’s book “Tribal Leadership”, distilling their research into the 5 culture-levels from inmates/gangmembers in the lowest-level, to LIVING IS SELF-INHERENTLY-AWESOME!! at the top, & see that they have serious qualms about manufacturing mass-shooter grade people as an industry, which is what “corrections” does.

Notice that the 3 categories of “game” anchor their 5 culture-levels:

• win-win game, positive-sum, alliance, anchors CultureLevel5 ( they aren’t “stages” as they call them: caterpillar->moth are stages, irreversible. These are levels or modes, reversible, except perhaps the very-top 2 )

I think finding-of-fact & judging-of-context need to be separated, to clear-out much of the court’s backlog…

I think that as much systematic correction of the court’s process, & mechanisms, as possible ought be got in, like a thing which replaces Wikipedia, but has ONLY vetted facts in it, so that no more “reinventing hot water” as the Yugoslavs call it, or “reinventing the wheel” as others call it, is wasting our work.

I know from experience that the new system of “Duty Counsel” where there are full-time Duty Counsel lawyers … DOESN’T work, as they won’t do what they ought do, to clear-out cases.

( I had to hire a real lawyer to get all charges dropped against me: it took a carefully-phrased agreement between prosecution & me about what I was declaring wasn’t any of my stuff/responsibility. Duty Counsel should have got that done, in the previous 11 or so months. It took awhile to pay-off the $500 that that cost )

I also know from experience that … I’m not certain I’d trust ANYbody in court, with very-few exceptions ( 1 defense-lawyer I’d trust to automaticallyb understand my meaning & represent me plainly & forthrightly, 1 judge named Peter Wright, I think he retired for health reasons, brilliant loyalty to Justice, in him ) etc…

The unbelievable amount of miscommunication due to different-values, different-intentions, etc, & many of the people cluttering-up the courts system are bragging to all around how they’re getting-away-with crime, but in-court they’re crying victim, victim, victim… many lawyers I wouldn’t trust as far as I could throw ( I can’t throw even a miniaturized lawyer far: the human-scale ones I couldn’t even lift )…

The reliance on in-person-ritual is absurd: much of court stuff ought be done electronically…

Self-representation is … pretty-much impossible, in Ontario, as you aren’t permitted to see any related-court-case evidence or decisions, to be able to formulate your case ( Nolo has books on law, for the US, & self-representation is possible there, apparently )

It’s simply that there are sooo many different angles requiring drastic-improvement that for anybody to pretend “if you fix this, it’ll make the whole thing work much better” is … absolutely bogus.

EVERYTHING needs fixing in it, from what I saw.

( I’d also legislate that police HAVE TO do due-dilligence when somebody accuses someone of something, to them, instead of just joyously charging whomever the accused is… with crimes that the accuser themself committed!!

The OPP turned themself into the asswipe of a known criminal, in charging me with that criminal’s crimes, AND they wouldn’t allow anybody to charge them with any crimes that they committed from then on…

This was a guy who, ttbomk, had robbed a pharmacy with an AK-47, previously.

I was NOT impressed with that “police work”. )

Hell, the high suicide-rate among the good cops is because of rot at the top, of the OPP, ttbomk…

Same with the good people who apparently kept quitting the RCMP ( I’ve no recent information on this, it was a couple decades ago ), also due to rot at the top, because there simply is no point in trying to make things work, when the top-brass won’t tolerate anything to be done with real living integrity…

There have to be indicators of whether a police-services organization, at any scale, precinct to national, NEEDS to have their people-in-authority forced into accountability, NOW…

I know that it should be possible to track witness-suicide rate, as a means of identifying where the police themselves are the criminals, intimidating witnesses to silence them… the signal may be subtle, but it MUST be detectable, somehow…

Sorry that this isn’t either “pretty” or “nice” or “politically acceptable” or even “low-cost actionable” stuff, but I want civilization to work right, & this stuff matters!

Finally, we have to orient to harm-reduction, primarily, as mass-shooters prove we cannot enforce Justice: when they off themselves to hide-from consequences, I hold that they’re railroading their future-incarnations, enforcing hell-lives on them, out of their narcissism…

but the one who committed the mass-shooting escapes…

So, in those cases, we are helpless to enforce Justice, in any way, whatsoever.

Which is humbling, & needed-calibration.

Once we accept that we can’t make our system enforce Justice, then we have to contemplate that all we can do is harm-reduction…

1 of my Soul’s/Continuum’s previous-incarnations was as a bee/hornet/wasp life, & I got to experience a taste of that sentience, decades ago…

I’d say no, for the simple reason that their sentience-on-brain is so incredibly efficient, & there’s no … material-basis … wasted on that specific kind-of-mind…

There is hesitancy, but ?fear? … it doesn’t fit the Soul-memory right…

( the bee/hornet/wasp family is cladistically/genetically flying-ants, with mutations, so this is actual-relatives )

When you see opposing kinds of ants, each with their fighters lined-up, opposite each-other…

that’s about as close as you could get to “fear”, right?

In that role, there’s applying-threat/force & there’s hesitancy, balancing between, but … I’m not finding, in my Soul-memory of that category-of-life, fear.

Notice, also, that when an ant comes back with an injury, other ants will prune their limbs to limit risk-of-infection, if required… ( recent news, that ), so they’re kinda really pragmatic about things like amputations, you know?

Here’s a simple method for usually getting someone of the bee/hornet/wasp family out from your home, if they get in…

I’m presuming a house, not an apartment-building with sealed-outer-envelope/wall…

1. make certain you haven’t got what they register as FOOD or something smelling openly, as scent overrides thinking, throughout much of the animal-kingdom, so no perfume, no open garbage-can with whatever they eat ( wasps eat meat ) overriding their will…

2. block & darken the paths you don’t want them going

3. brighten & open the paths you do want them going ( porch light on, to lighten that path, e.g. )

4. if you have to wave your arms gently, wide, to catch their attention, to get them to intentionally-look-there, do so, then simply have one’s arms at one’s side, & hold still ( you don’t need to move slowly for them: they live MUCH quicker than humans do: I saw a man falling, & it was taking ages, in that previous-incarnation )…

5. keep your eyes slitted, as they’ll try flying into your eyes, because the dark-pupil looks to them like a home-sized opening… ( a beekeeper told me this single point, all the rest is of my Soul-memory/experience )

6. they should “swim” ( it feels like swimming, to them: sentience feels wet, in their crustaceans-living-in-the-air lives ) into the open-luminance, leaving your home, happily…

I’ve tried this, & it only works with that family: it doesn’t work with blackflies, it doesn’t work with mosquitos, it doesn’t work with beetles, etc…

So, it matches my Soul-memory experience’s prediction of their sentiences’ behavior.

This is a literal deathmatch, a war-of-attrition between enemy-intents who … most of them … simply don’t care if nobody survives on this world, so long as nobody of the others survives.

Wrong-framing means a greater percentage of humankind are extinguished, this-century, is all.

It saves zero lives, it offers less effective “comfort” than alcohol: Hopium COST the Dems in the US their country.

It isn’t that we see most pets as cute, rather, it is that if it isn’t cute, it isn’t a pet.

So, we’re looking-at an immensely selective subset of animals, & then framing the question on that misrepresentation…

We tend to see babies, of most mammals, as cute, because of some generic wiring in us that codes for that, it seems … AND …

One time, while living homeless out in the bush, I heard crashing through the leaves going this-way, then pausing, then going that-way…

unzipped my “tent” & looked out… it was a newborn fawn, seeing the world for the 1st time…

its presence-energy was one of the most-beautiful things I’ve ever seen…

Notice that humans tend to prefer looking at youthful humans?

I find that there are several different reasons, but that most people aren’t conscious of them…

Lack of wrinkles & scars, OK, smooth, fit, … vital…

Right-there’s part of it: vital.

Ever seen healthy kittens, & their simple clean vitality?

What civilized-life erodes from us?

Another part of it is that when you’re old, like me, & you spend ages digging into things, & realize stuff like …

DON’T pick an old human, whose spent their life being battered by life, & thinking on it all.

Instead pick someone who’s still in Kegan3, but permanently ( Robert Kegan’s unconscious-mind-development stages 3, 4, & 5, can be described as

• Kegan3: absorbing experience, wanting to feel liked - this is the mode of cows, who associate with validity, because they aren’t bulling, themselves.
• Kegan4: bulling-boss mode: pushing-out incompatible-meaning, & instinct that if anybody else has any validity, that subtracts from own-validity, ie all is zero-sum-game for validity. This is the mode of bulls, fighting for dominance - it is limbic, not any kind of conscious-decision.
• Kegan5: systems-of-systems mode: what the best “Elders” of the indigenous people had earned, what the “elder generals” of the ancient times had earned, etc.

( Kegan & Lahey’s “Immunity to Change” book is on our unconscious-mind’s fighting-off of growing-up, its sabotaging our lives, & how to work around that innate-mechanism, getting it to understand, so growing-up, moving from dysfunction to function, can happen in our lives.

It’s a book I’d require all high-school kids to read at-least part of, so when they need to read it for real, they’ll remember it, & find a library, & dig-in )

But whom do we want as pets?

Pretty-much always we want Kegan3 ( or lower? ) types as pets: NOT people who compete with us for validity, right?

We’re wanting, iow, dependents, we’re wanting substitute children without the wrestling-match of actual-human-children…

Now multiply the only-cute-animals-get-chosen-as-pets * we-want-substitute-children-without-the-difficulties-of-human-children …

& you’re getting a “furbaby”, right?

There’s another angle to add-in…

Feral animals do NOT have the same psychology as pets: pets are developmentally-removed, more “baby-like” in their manner, their behavior, etc…

I’ve come across a few people who pointed this out, & considering it through the years, they’re right ( I spent 1/3-decade rough in the bush: they’re very right ).

So, we only select cute pets, we want them to be pseudo-children, AND we make them only partly grow-up, so they never become adult in the ways of their own kind ( usually with either ruthless killing or with ruthless herd-behaviors involved, as with horses, who’ll force a reject-of-their-herd to do without food, & die, because that’s the way their herds work )…

Again, we’re looking through “rose colored” glasses, & seeing “the question” as being only what our distortion of reality allows…

All I’m trying to do is get people to see feral animals as the correct frame-of-reference for animals, & then see how we’ve babied-down/dumbed-down our pets, & how we do this for our own emotional-comforting, to have someone who “needs” us ( when we’re bothering to be home where they live: when we’re at work, they’re just “furniture” or something?? unfair to them, tbh )…

& this is deforming our ability to understand what the true-questions are…

I agree with some who hold that experience with pets & herd-beasts is required for someone to really, honestly, understand human growing-up…

but I’m adamant that outgrowing “dependents” is required for people to earn more-complete self-conquering, more-complete growing-up.

Codependency is what people default-to, nowadays, whereas independence is the root of interdependence, what Stephen R. Covey called “synergy”.

I don’t think he made it strong/clear enough, just how independent one needs to be ( for us guys, I’ve no idea how it maps to women’s reality ), in order for interdependence to not be codependence…

Anyways, just a bit of perspective that may be useful …

A psychiatrist explained to me, years ago, that women are much more likely to attempt suicide, but by using less-violent means, are much less-likely to succeed in terminating their lives.

Males are less likely to try it, but more likely to succeed.

Girls/women usually try pills, overdoses, guys usually try something violent.

See the “more suicides are tried by girls & women” part of the equation, not just the “more successful suicides are by males” part of the equation.

( I’ve faint marks from when I opened both wrists with a scalpel-blade, when I was about 10yo, and haven’t had the guts to intentionally make-absolutely-certain of my termination … perhaps-ever.

Both parts of the equation I’m identifying are offensive/wrong, and mis-representing of what’s actually going on, as various “activist” factions do, is what I’m attacking. )

In hammers, hickory is the best.

A Vaughn ( spelling? ) California Framer, with hickory handle, is THE framing hammer, and I never want to hear about Estwing steel-shaft hammers again.

The shock-absorption in the hickory is wonderful.

( I’ve never worked as a framer, but I have worked a few years as the grunt-guy on construction sites, and have tried many different tools, trying to find the ones that work properly for years )

The only question is whether the springiness of hickory would make it prone to falling-off the file quicker than rock-maple would…

Mind you, humidity expansion/contraction would probably be a factor in that, so maybe sealing the stuff, soaking it in varnish or something?

Anyways, it’s an experiment I’d do, and if the hickory doesn’t work-out, then try rock maple, see?
