5·9 days agoFor what it’s worth, you are in the right here. AI is not inherently bad, it is the existence of capitalism which makes it be used for exploitation.
Under socialism, it would be utilised for the benefit of society, and if AI can exist, it will inevitably exist therefore anyone who talks of eridicating AI is promoting silly utopic ideas. I’d prefer for it to be strictly limited to minimalising annoying, monotonous labour and service industies including of course, assisting the disabled.
However I will say you’ll have an easier time convcining others of this if you argue your point without insults, as they are less likely to listen if you do. I’m actually curious, if you don’t mind disclosing that is, what do you use AI for in regards to helping you with your disability?

Global News@lemmy.zip•China: ‘The state is using generative AI to engineer reality through informational gaslighting’English
3·9 days agoI don’t like how AI is developing, I don’t support state surveillance on the general population and I want China to be better in many aspects but this is typical anti-communist drivel. All the buzzwords and usual terminology such as: CCP, authoritarian, calling the west democratic states, indirectly labelling Tibet and Xinijiang as seperate countries.
Also,
This means refusing to purchase AI models that conceal political or historical censorship
Every Western AI does this, total hypocrisy, garbage liberal propaganda.

Science@mander.xyz•The one science reform we can all agree on, but we're too cowardly to do
2·10 days agoYep, with the capitalist class as the ruling class and a lack of revolutionary action, this won’t change.
As the capitalists are merely acting within their percieved class interests here, the only chance for this to change, aside from the obvious socialist revolution, is to pressure them as an organised working class to do so.

United Kingdom@feddit.uk•Migration minister fails UK citizenship test questionEnglish
3·12 days agoYeah I got 71% too, which is a fail so I guess I am no longer British. Born and raised here btw! What a stupid, racist test, plenty of the questions aren’t even objectively factual but subjective or flatout lies spread by the government too.
edit: did a second test and still failed with 67%

I love how the title and image both spelt it incorrectly in different ways. You can also put a hyphen in it if you’re feeling swanky. Anyway, fuck the west.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Is it possible to advertise without it being manipulative?
1·17 days agoYou make a very good point actually, I suppose I hadn’t even asked myself whether manipulation itself is inherently, objectively wrong. If I manipulate a rich bastard into sending food to Palestine, it wouldn’t exactly be bad would it.
There’s a lot of gross ads out there though, at the very least they need stricter regulation on what they can show and say unless it’s a product for the betterment of humanity, but I guess what is good and not would be hard to accurately categorise. Fuck ads that are for selling you things you really don’t need, especially when they use dishonest ways to, and even moreso when it’s fuelling an addiction like gambling.

1·17 days agoSharing this screenshot as I thought the search result was funny considering the source:

I completely agree and relate to this to the point to where it feels uncanny, like as if I just read my own words. Past couple of months have been visually miserable and that does have an effect on mental health - Wake up, grey, midday, grey, barely existent sun goes down before you’ve even woken up properly.
And now the sun returns and it comes with bloody headaches and earaches and a dry throat. Earth, why do you make me suffer like this?

World News@lemmy.ml•"This is Not a Dress Rehearsal": U.S. Engaged in Massive Military Buildup as Threat To Bomb Iran Grows
181·1 month agoWhat a dogshit liberal take, it’s primarily about keeping America the top dog through imperialism. Not saying the Epstein controversy has nothing all to do with this but Trump would still be doing similar warmongering even if the files had not been so damning to him and his circle.

Jew got used a lot in my area in a similar way. It’s horrible looking back and it got used in a lot of ways, one of the weirder uses was in football/soccer, where doing a sideways pass to a teammate for an easy goal was called ‘jew-ing it’.
