  • With a simple NPV calc it’s obvious why the dlc is a complete waste of time. I mean we could easily afford to hire another team that will quickly provide positive cashflow, but then the producers are going to wonder if consumers are spending less on x because of y, and x is what we used to project future revenue numbers to our board. If we don’t reach the x projection and I get canned then I’ll always regret having tried y. I mean sure y superceded all expectations, and made millions, but it also had like 800k in overhead. We should probably just lay of 300 developers who are willing to work 60 hour weeks for 40 hours of pay and decrease the level of qa/QC time on x so we can get started on x2 and push into prod, nevermind the bugs. Also I’ll need you to work Sat because the system keeps throwing exception errors

Dad always said if you are bored you are being a boring person. It changed my mindset to being a lifelong learner. Go pick up a new tool, software or physical it doesnt really matter. Could be a new language, learn to interface with a machine or person… Give yourself a small project to learn it, try to use as much of it as you can as a challange. Eventually you’ll learn to make your own tools. Even if they arent better, they have value. If you cant find enjoyment and satisfaction in learning try creating. I dont really like creating as much as debugging or modding stuff - aka learning something. I just rediscovered aoe2 and am not only learning the classes im relearning some history trying to follow up on the stories in the game. Its inspiring my reading materials.

Life is about experience, not expertise imo. But the latter helps you feel confident or mentor, also satisfying activities.

  • Far more interesting youtube creators than almost everything on television, esp. after the writer strike. Less commercials, skip capability, que capability. Television has been obsolete for many of us for over a decade. I honestly don’t understand why anyone still pays for cable unless they are over 70.
