2 months agoHave a snack ready when they get home from school. Make it reasonably healthy but it should be something they like. Keeping their blood sugar up at the end of the day makes evenings so much more pleasant.

1·3 months agoIt may just be a difference in use case. I don’t use navigation apps for my daily and local trips. I use navigation when I’m going to be driving hundreds of miles to a new location and don’t already know how to get there.
If your primary goal is finding out how to get from A to B and not caring about the very fastest way to get from A to B right now, then you don’t need traffic data.

11·4 months agoLosing 1/12 of their annual revenue may be enough to make them miss their quarterly or annual earnings goals which may cause the stock price to dip which may make it a little harder for the rich people to get the tax-free loans that finance their lifestyle… until the stock recovers in a few months.

1·5 months agoWould they have been predictable had they never been created? Is conceptualizing an entire universe the same as actually creating the entire universe so it can play out?
The solution I have heard before that I thought was the most interesting would add another arrow to the “Then why didn’t he?” box at the bottom:
Because he wants his creation to be more like him.
He’s just a lonely guy. He made the angels but they’re so boring and predictable. They all kowtow to him and have no capacity for evil (except for that one time). Humans have the capacity for both good and evil, they don’t constantly feel his presence, and they’re so much more interesting! They make choices that are neither directly in support of or opposition to himself. Most of the time, their decisions have nothing to do with him at all!
Humans have the capacity to be more like God than any of his other creations.
32·6 months agoI think the joke is that the props department needed a collection of medals and one of them is just a combadge painted a different color. Maybe they ran out of ideas, maybe it was easy, maybe they assumed nobody would notice. Star Trek needed a lot of props that looked alien or futuristic but sometimes it’s just a hair dryer with a curvy pipe glued on the outside and spray painted black.
Chores earn points. Points can be redeemed for screen time, among other things. No screens Mon-Thu in the school year.

You could try turning on Do Not Disturb for all numbers, all the time. The calls and texts will technically still happen but you won’t be notified of them. You may be able to avoid voicemails if you never set it up. You’ll see all your texts if you ever open the app although you may be able to disable or remove it. (YMMV based on your particular phone.)
