I think what postmodernism is getting at is not that you cannot prescribe good or bad qualities to things, but that language itself is not some absolute thing. The culturally understood meaning of words can and does rapidly change shift through a process of usage and interaction (me when dialectics), and can take on implicit meanings. There is no way to prevent this, because arbitrariness is inherent to any system of symbols - we can only come into a critical consciousness about the narratives that are created and evolve through the interactive use of our language. So one could say that the terms “good” and “bad” have become, through usage, cross-associated with moralistic narratives regarding sin, and may make an attempt to use a different terminology to distinguish from a moralizing value judgement and some other kind of value judgement (e.g. use-value)

i love this trick, i do it for pretty much every recipe involving beans. Its so easy

oh i used bay leaves too, forgot that. i actually might have a ham hock i forgot about in the freezer but the beans r already cooked so i dont know if cooking it up would help all that much after the fact. Unless i double cooked the beans - which i might, because they are a little starchy and probably needed maybe like, 30-45 more minutes on the stove.

First I brown any meat (didnt use any this time), i saute the veggies first then usually (but not this time) cook my spices up, then simmer everything in the same pot. Fat is probably a big missing factor yeah since I usually get it from the sausages I fry up and add I reckon - I didnt think of that.

also i have this feeling that unemployement numbers are… not fudged in some way necessarily but like, even the TRU metric which is way higher than “headline unemployment” is still lower now than it was in the late 90s/early 00s pre-financial crisis. the TRU has been consistently going down barring covid but everything is getting shittier and worse for everyone. But the Numbers are still able to go up in some way bc the Numbers have lost all meaning or sense of reality. “the signs of the real have been substituted for the real” - like a zombie economy doing all the things a living economy would do while completely dead, as the cells/people that constitute it are rotting away in a perma-recession

I did not do it this time, but yeah usually i saute aromatics then scooch them over and cook the spices in the pot for a while before adding the stock. very important for tomato paste and red pepper flakes i find
