          Firstly, misogyny and homophobia don’t suddenly become okay when you direct it at shitty people.

          Secondly, they may not deserve any respect or kindness but using insults based on homophobia or misogyny isn’t showing disrespect to them (they’re never gonna read your fucking Lemmy comments), it’s making this site a less pleasant space for the types of people who are targeted by this kinda shit on a regular basis.

          And finally, it shows these aforementioned marginalised people you’re supposed to be an ally with that your allyship is worthless. You’ve decided homophobia is conditionally acceptable.

          As you said, these are terrible people you’re talking about, so why not attack them on that instead of vomiting out casual bigotry?

                  That’s not true… it would be so easy to grift on Fox or whatever about the latest minority to hate if you don’t care about others, and by the looks of it, you seem willing to do it for free.

                  Since you keep bringing up children, I think they have a better sense of ethics than you.

              If you’re calling a bad person who happens to be gay out by way of referring to them being gay then yes actually it’s still homophobic, because them being gay is presented as a bad thing, and if I had to put money in it I’d bet that there’s no way in hell you’re not completely misrepresenting the situation

          Saying violent homophobia is just the fault of closeted homosexuals and not heterosexuals is a grievous insult to many more gay people than to straights while denying the substantial guilt of many straight people
