I would love to see Star Trek space battles redone in Expanse style
They’d never do it. Not enough laser and nebulas. Needs more sex appeal.
I know, but I’d pay to see the Enterprise launch a pile of photon torpedoes, drop into a spin and then watch the torpedoes see them peel off and burn towards a Warbird, Rocinante-vs-Zemya style.
Of course, phasers would be hard to make work, because they’d never miss but they’d make pretty neat PDCs, I suppose.
Star Trek in theory could deal with speed of light limits on lasers. Like, you can miss if the objects you’re trying to hit are too far away or moving erratically. There’s no reason space battles should be like naval battles, where you sit next to each other firing broadsides. Your targets could and should be light seconds away. It’ll be more like submarine warfare, with detection and evasion being key.
Aye Beltalowda, cloaks cover rocks better than duster stealth tech.
I wonder what a cloaked asteroid would look like at it entered the atmosphere.
