There was (IMO) a great show called “Better off Ted”. It had evil corporate theme and the mid-show always had a small commercial from the show’s company that were hilarious. Things like “here at veridian dynamics were a family. Which is why we make our employees work nights, weekends, and holidays, because that’s when families should be together”
Better off Ted was great. The studio gave it a chance, even renewing a second season despite consistently poor ratings.
I don’t know why it flopped. It certainly wasn’t due to the usual corporate malfeasance, like what happened to Firefly. Maybe it was just timing; I’m honestly surprised that broadcast TV is still lurching along, with the pressure from streaming services.
I absolutely love Better off Ted, but it doesn’t surprise me that it was a flop. I feel like the level of satire went way over most people’s heads.
Shame though because it was a hilarious show.
Much like Firefly, I never heard of Better Off Ted until some years after it had been canceled. Both fantastic shows which deserved far more time.
Firefly… Got murdered in it’s crib. Had a audience, fans, reviews but couldn’t get the viewer numbers up to executive political games
I see someone beat me to Firefly, so I’ll grab the low hanging fruit: GoT. The way that show started compared to how it ended? Jesus fuck, that should be a class in college in what not to do.
100% D&D deserve a walk of shame for what they did.
I don’t think anyone can say GoT flopped, but it probably will go down in history as the most Hate Watched series ever. To totally murder all joy, all spinoff projects, all discussion, all memes so completely of a extremely popular property, that is high skill!
Totally agree. I’d say season one compared to season eight does a flop make, but that’s getting into semantics land.
Yeah, I don’t think you can call Game of Thrones a flop by any stretch of the imagination. It was hugely successful, lucrative, and influential. It just had a shitty ending that nobody liked.
Ok, then it flopPED.
D&D
Not gonna lie, I stared at this for a good twenty or thirty seconds before I could process it as anything other than “Dungeons & Dragons”.
Corporate. It was a show on Comedy Central for a few seasons. It was about boring office workers that are working for a mega corporation that’s fucking up the world. Lance Reddick plays the CEO of the corporation.
One of my favorite 1 liners was something like, I think I’m losing weight because my belt doesn’t fit around my neck like it used to.
I just checked out the first episode
“We encourage confrontational criticism”! Wow… so well done, bridgewater flashbacks
“I want to have a hot body because I’m tired of developing my personality”, this show is great.
The fucking Cake Tracking system… feels like someone is spying on my life.
There are so many good episodes. It is one of the few shows I spent money on to “own.”
Yes! I love that show and it’s tragic it’s not more accessible and out there, I feel like I’ve never met anyone irl who’s watched it.
Heels. That show had a great story, great actors, and great writing. I feel like the main reason it got canceled after two seasons is because it was released on Starz. Starz hardly ever has anything worth watching and on the rare occasion they get a good show they never promote it properly and then act surprised that no one watches it. The same thing happened to Ash Vs Evil Dead and Blunt Talk. Basically they end up cancelling great shows because no one gives a shit about Starz lol
The 2 seasons of Heels just got picked up by Netflix, so hopefully if it does well we can get a third season to at least finish the story!

2 seasons, 12 episodes total… it could have been so much more, the comedy was amazing.
