Best use I’ve seen of that meme in years. To be fair I don’t really pay attention to memes but seen more of these ones recently. Also I’m Canadian so … fucking eh, suck it hosers.

To be fair I haven’t interacted with any but I’d sure shoulder check one if it got in my crease…okay I’d probably run away screaming if it started honking, I’ve heard enough stories. Didn’t survive living in the middle of nowhere without ignoring the cute bear cubs and geese sure aren’t that cute.
I may be an American (at the moment), but my Canadian pride has never been higher!
I know this is basically an Onion article, but I got some thoughts on this.
Honestly, I used to feel like that was a totally viable option when travelling to other countries as an American. Never did it myself but It was easier than explaining that you’re not one of the “bad” ones. I’ve definitely heard my fair share of horror stories about Americans in other countries.
These days I’d just find it extremely disrespectful. At this point we really have no fucking excuse to not be better. If we don’t own it and get our shit together I don’t think we have a right to even pretend we are on the same level as Canada. The amount of solidarity Canadians have against the US right now is the kind of solidarity we wish we had. We’d rather fight with each other about whose fault it is and laugh at the ones that voted for Trump rather than come together. And just because you didn’t vote for him doesn’t mean you are automatically absolved of any responsibility. It’s like saying Russia isn’t the enemy because there are people there that disagree with the invasion of Ukraine.

Except a weirdly large portion of Alberta. It’s actually a little alarming how many of them love Trump. I vote we trade the US west coast (and eastern OR can join their nazi buddies in Idaho like they want to anyway) for Alberta.
As an Oregonian no they cannot. I will not lose some of the most beautiful parts of my state to those scumbags. Greater Idaho will happen over my fucking corpse. I can’t fight for every part of the country but that is literally the hill I will die on if it comes to it.

Where was the bargaining chip? Don’t shut down the gov, and the Rs win. Shut down the government, and doge and the pres win, and the rest of the Rs are still pretty happy.
They didn’t have to do either, there was a resolution to fund the government for another month on last year’s funding bill until something could be drafted that would pass.
Once, on a bus in London, I asked “is this seat taken” to a lady who was sitting at the aisle and the window seat was open. She turned to me, hearing my accent, and said “It’s not for Americans”. I was taken aback and said, “but I’m Canadian!” and then she said, “oh” and just moved over like it was nothing then.
I was going into a nightclub in Scotland and the bouncer at the door asked for ID. I didn’t have my passport, so gave him my US driver’s license. The bouncer looked at it with an odd face, not knowing what it was, until I said, “Oh, I’m American.” Without missing a beat he said, “Yeah, we all got problems,” gave it back to me, and let me in.
When I was over there, everyone assumed I was Canadian. I asked a tour guide about it at one point, and he said that it’s just a safer assumption: if they guess American and are wrong, Canadians can get a little offended. But if you guess Canadian and are wrong, Americans tend to just be amused.
You should have sat down, and said “I’m actually American.”
What has an American ever done to her? Weird to just be a bigot for no real reason, The British government and tourists fucking suck also, tourists are arguably worse.
I mean, bigotry is bad and all expressions of nationalism are brain rot, but most recently Americans have threatened to invade Canada and begin a fascist tide the world may not survive.

At the risk of being pedantic, this would be an export tax. (But I think maybe it’s important to get these things right given how many people don’t seem to understand that a tariff is a tax on imports.)
