Started using loops yesterday. The only thing I’d like is to sort by genres or search for subjects. I know it’s in early access though

I just tried registering when I read this a couple hours ago, also have not received an email still.
Small timers are regularly getting shafted in regards to emails. It’s lazy spam filtering because there’s too much traffic and so it falls on the sufferer to prove innocence.
I signed up last week, never got an email, then tried again a few days ago, got both emails yesterday
I signed up a couple months ago without issue…not sure if there’s a backlog since then.
Loops is very early access IMO, the loops app is more barebones and error-prone than the early Lemmy apps of last year
But it’s absolutely a good start and I hope they can get it up to par quickly
Tbf the software hasn’t even reached gold yet, so the fact that it’s able to handle users at all without serious problems is extremely impressive
If I were a nefarious government whose spyware psy-op app was being banned I’d start an astroturf campaign to get people to swap to a different app controlled by me by using the algorithms in my current about to be banned spyware app.

I’m not sure China wants westerns using their internal propaganda app. Mixing the internal and external propaganda quickly leads to absurdities.
Except red note has been in China since 2013 and available in America since 2023…

RedNote, a China based TikTok clone that TikTok users are flocking to as a form of protest.
Lemmy tankies have mostly latched onto it because they see the TT ban as the US government censoring their totally-not-CCP-propaganda machine. Even though the laws enforcement mechanism mostly amounts to having app stores delist it (Website, already installed apps and sideloaded should all remain working)
It is more of a instagram clone than tiktok clone IIRC.

In my own polianish way, I find this cultaral exchange on rednote both wholesome and also it gives me hope for something more. The Chinese people are obviously oppressed by their government, but it’s not that much better here (corporate oligarchy) and is about to get a lot worse. Two peoples whose overlords have tried to convince them that the other country is an enemy, coming together and finding common ground. Maybe working together for a better common outcome, despite both governments trying to keep them apart. I can dream anyway.

okay, but I’m on loops and there are almost no “talking heads” it’s mostly nature, tourist attractions, cats and other pets, ppl dancing or musicians, funny incidents, drone videos, trains, memes and a few computer game clips i don’t get.
That’s cool I suppose. I also can’t get past the garbage portrait video format that everyone uses. People should pay attention to the names of those orientations, Portrait and Landscape, as they are a good indicator of the proper usage.
